Every time another disclosure comes out about new Android malware or any other mobile exploit, I get asked over and over “Should I be worried?” and “What about THIS one?” Since I’ve been working at Skycure, the answer has always been the same – SKYCURE CUSTOMERS ARE PROTECTED. PERIOD.
There may come a time when something new shows up that Skycure does not protect against, but today is not that day, and I strongly suspect that whatever new malware is disclosed tomorrow will also not get past Skycure’s protections. This is exactly why Skycure has the best reputation for complete and accurate mobile protection – we have extensive proprietary and patented technology to make sure that we are not relying only on signatures or static and dynamic analysis, or machine learning (whatever definition that takes on today), and the other methods that catch the easy stuff. You are only protected if your mobile threat defense (MTD) solution Predicts, Detects and Actively Protects from all of the unknown threats that haven’t hit the news yet. Most solutions do a fair job of detection on the easy stuff, but struggle with zero days and more advanced threats that employ methods of hiding the infection. This is where Skycure shines.
But let’s go ahead and talk about MilkyDoor anyway. It is a variation of an older class of Android malware known as DressCode. Both classes of malware hide malicious traffic and grant attackers access to firewall-protected networks. While DressCode relies on SOCKS proxy servers, the newer MilkyDoor uses remote port forwarding via Secure Shell (SSH) tunnels. Once infected, an attacker can take advantage of the device having access to corporate networks to escalate access to internal company servers, and steal sensitive data. Clever methods allow this malware to evade Google’s Play Store security scans, making it easy for unsuspecting victims to install and get infected.
Do you want to continue losing sleep and wondering if you are susceptible to every new mobile exploit that comes alone, or do you want to have the peace of mind that Skycure customers enjoy?
