We never imagined we would be co-authoring this blog within a short span of 5 years after embarking on our Skycure journey. It gives us immense pleasure to announce that we have signed a definitive agreement for Symantec to acquire Skycure. This is a big milestone for Skycure customers, prospective customers, partners and employees, and we all are very excited about it.
Thanks to the amazing team, it is quite UNBELIEVABLE what we all have accomplished in the past 5 years! Within this short period of time, we have managed to define a new Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) category, become a leader in our industry, and bring value to our Global 2000 customers. Now we are on a great trajectory to scale that vision even faster, together with the power of Symantec.
Why is Symantec a great match?
Symantec is one of the largest pure-play software security companies on the planet. Organizations across the world look to Symantec for strategic, integrated solutions to defend against sophisticated attacks across endpoints, cloud and infrastructure. Likewise, a global community of more than 50 million people and families rely on Symantec’s Norton and LifeLock product suites to protect their digital lives at home and across their devices. It gives us goose-bumps to even imagine Skycure running on all those devices. Symantec was the fastest way for us to reach these millions and billions of devices running modern operating systems and secure them.
Why did Symantec choose Skycure?
Greg Clark, the CEO of Symantec, and a security visionary himself, shares our vision to secure all mobile devices running modern operating systems independent of their type, form-factor, usage & ownership. Here are the four key reasons why Symantec chose Skycure:
- People: Our character, culture and vision
- Product: Our deep understanding of our customers’ needs and our product maturity
- Proof: The positive feedback from our customers, partners and analysts
- Place: That Israel is a hub of security talent and innovation
Managed and unmanaged devices like tablets and smartphones are growing in prevalence and flooding the workplace, introducing new risks and vulnerabilities. Researchers discovered more than 600 new vulnerabilities on iOS and Android operating systems last year alone and we are on a trajectory to beat it by more than double this year. Symantec has invested in mobile security through SEP Cloud and Norton Mobile product lines. The protection capabilities in those product lines will expand with Skycure and put Symantec on the path to protect more than 1 billion endpoints.
We truly believe this is just the beginning. It’s important to us that we keep our core agility and continue to win like we have always done, and Symantec’s leadership team is committed to supporting us. Together with Symantec’s world-renowned brand, security expertise, supporting functions, and new playbooks, we will be able to execute our bigger vision to revolutionize the overall security market.
After taking a moment to celebrate this incredible accomplishment, we will all be back to work on Wednesday to win our accounts and continue delivering the best MTD solution as we’ve done for the past five years.
